Hawaii 2010

Last Monday I had no idea I would be in Hawaii over the weekend! Our friend Moki had a few buddy passes that had to be used by last weekend and offered some of them to Mike! We got babysitters, planned our flight, booked our room, and packed all in a few days and we were our of here! I cant believe it really happened! I was so much fun and the other couple Brooke and Chris were so much fun! We had some bumps along the way with some of our plans.....bumped from first class, flight delayed almost making us miss the flight from LA to Hawaii, went to wrong hotel, got burnt to a crisp, TSUNAMI!, and bumped from first class AGAIN on the way home! All in all it was SOOOOooo much fun!

Here are some picture of our room. We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations on the big island in Waikaloa
These are some shots of just outside our room and around the front desk..... Oh and a photo of the pool at The Waikaloa Village Hotel.

Early Saturday morning we woke up to mikes boss calling to see if we had made it to the mountains yet? Hmmmm We had no idea that the earthquake in Chile caused a warning to be in effect for all the Hawaiian islands to evacuate in case of  a Tsunami!!

We flipped on the news and checked our phone book to see if we were in the evacuation area. We were just outside of the area so we didnt have to leave. We ran to the market to get some food because everything would be closed for a while. Well the BIG WAVE never really came. Luckily. I did bum us out because basically we lost that day of sightseeing. After a while we went out driving to the other near by hotels and it was a ghost town. WEIRD. Later that night the Hilton Waikaloa had a really yummy free buffet because of the Tsunami.

We walked around the Waikaloa Beach resort later that afternoon and took some awesome photos of the coastline.

Sunday Mike went golfing at the Waikaloa Beach Golf Course. I just rode along but it was so much fun to see the beautiful course and watch Mike do something he absolutely loves! After golf we did a little shopping in Kona. It was fun to hang with my hubby.

That night we went to the Marriott Luau. It was so much fun and we met a ton of fun people there. We even sat next to a couple from Utah! Funny! It was so windy though!
Monday came and we were supposed to go home but our flight got bumped so we had another day there.
We didn't do a lot that day just hung around and went to dinner later that night.

Tuesday we checked out of our hotel and drove all the way to the other side of the island to Volcano National Park. It was a long drive but well worth it. Still way windy.

Then there is the area where it turns into a rainforest and you walk through this cave. Way cool!

The Girls

Then on our way back to Kona to catch our flight we found a little black sand beach we had to check out. It was beautiful and the sand was so soft!  As you can tell by the pics.....STILL way windy!

A shot of the men mingling!
We also stopped at a look out of the coast and got some more postcard like photos.

When we got to Kona we watched the sun set and then ate at a restaurant called LuLu's......the menu was mikes dream! Lots of insane burgers! It was a cool little place that we wish we would have know about earlier.

The walls were covered in dollar bills that had been written on so we HAD to leave our mark!

It was so much fun to have a short but AWESOME trip to Hawaii!
Thanks SOOOOOOOOOOO much Moki for the hook up!
And thanks to Brooke and Chris for making this trip so memorable!

Oh and when we got home Ethan saw me and started crying, he couldn't even look at me. He just kept crying and hugging me. Poor little emotional bug!

Oh and yeah.........I did get burnt to a CRISP!

OUCH!

Such cute pics. Next time you go, I'll try to remember how to get to the green sand beach. Even cooler than the black. Nice burn!

Oscar and I love the big island, except for the dead, empty volcanic wasteland as you travel around. But the sites and the beaches are just so pretty.

I'm so jealous right now. I'm even jealous that you got burnt to a crisp. That is like my fantasy-I wake up one morning and someone says-"here are some free flights-get out of town!" You are so stinkin' lucky! Sounds and looks like you had a fabulous time. How'd the girls do without their mama?

Your sun burn picture is funny!! I always burn on vacation, usually on the first day so I have to stay covered up for the rest of the trip. Looks like you guys have a fun time. I need to get to Hawaii some day.

Happy Halloween
